The Dissociative Disorders Alliance (The DDA) is recruiting for Trustees, including a Treasurer role, to join the board. Are you a person with lived experience of a complex dissociative disorder, an ally (anyone who is a friend or supporter of a person or persons with lived experience) or a practitioner in the field (anyone that works in a professional capacity with people with complex dissociative disorders)? Would you be interested in volunteering with our emerging charity, helping The DDA to grow and develop into the UK’s national charity for people with complex dissociative disorders, their allies and practitioners working in the field? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for people who have the capacity to take actions forwards from meetings; and we particularly hope to welcome two new people with experience of living with a complex dissociative disorder. The DDA is at an early stage of its development and we are looking for trustees who want to be heavily involved in progressing our work. Anyone with project management experience; volunteer coordination experience; GDPR know-how; using social media, or experience of handling fundraising and grant applications would be particularly welcomed. We are hoping to have all new trustees in place by January 2027.
For the role of the Treasurer, ideally you would be an accountant, retired accountant, part qualified or qualified by experience accountant. Amongst other duties which are detailed in the role description you would be developing financial policies and solutions alongside the existing bookkeeper. The time commitment would be for a two-hour trustee meeting bi-monthly, plus additional time in-between meetings, depending on what activities you get involved with.
The DDA’s Trustees play a vital role in making sure that The DDA achieves its core purposes. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that The DDA has a clear strategy and that the charity's work and goals are in line with its vision; an improved quality of life, healing and recovery for those living with a complex dissociative disorder.
You do not need to have previous experience of being a Trustee or working within a charity to apply. This is an opportunity for you to use and share your current skills and experience and learn new ones.
It is important to The DDA, that our Trustees are a diverse group of people who represent our community. This means that we endeavour to welcome and include people from all of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, including the many intersections of these that can be experienced by people with a complex dissociative disorder.
