Important Update from The DDA - 2025 DID Awareness Day

Dear Ally

It is Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) Awareness Day and that provides a great opportunity to share the latest
news from The Dissociative Disorders Alliance (The DDA). This day can leave people with other types of complex
dissociative disorders such as OSDD/P-DID feeling excluded, so we’d like you all to know that The DDA will be for
people with any complex dissociative disorder regardless of initialism!
In our last update in November 2024, we asked you to share in our hope that our revised application to The Charity
Commission would be successful.

We are delighted to announce that The DDA has now achieved charitable status!
We can now get some of the things underway that were on hold; such as opening a bank account, deciding on
fundraising platforms and researching opportunities for grants. While feeling a sense of pride in what The DDA has
achieved so far, we also want to acknowledge the growth in the amount of great work being done by individuals and
organisations across the world. The DDA notices the considerable care, significant time and energy already dedicated
to various initiatives; however, we also recognise there is still a lot of work to be done and many issues we would
like to tackle! Forming alliances will be at the heart of The DDA, and so we hope to leverage our strengths and
available resources collectively and individually to enhance the lives of those living with complex dissociative
disorders.

In our last update we shared examples of the work going on behind the scenes (please click here for a reminder). We
also mentioned a few ways in which we plan to involve the community for help and ideas as things develop. Input
from the community has informed our thinking from the outset, helped by the great response we had to our
anonymous questionnaire that we sent out last year. Given its success, we are using that format for a very short
anonymous poll which we would be grateful if you would complete, please click here. (Note: if you are signed in to
Google, you will see your email address, but you should also notice a little envelope icon with a ‘x’ against it and the
words ‘Not Shared’).

Please stay tuned for future communications. If you have received this update directly into your email inbox, it is
because you have already given us permission to add your name to our mailing list. If you have received it via other
means and would like to be kept updated, please email us at: theddaglobal@gmail.com with permission to hold your
details on file. Please also add our email address to your ‘safe senders’ list so that updates don’t drop into your spam
folder.

Best wishes from all the volunteers at The DDA
